AYM has dynamic trained staff who empower the youth to learn about themselves through a series of processes that are both thought-provoking and action-oriented. Group and individual participation and sharing are encouraged without judgment, and we praise personal responsibility and accountability for past and present actions.

The AYM facilitator is passionate about the work and has the ability to immerse teens totally in the experience while encouraging them to learn from both their peers and their experience in the workshop. Through high levels of interaction, the facilitator professionally and intuitively guides the group through various processes and is able to stimulate the imagination while keeping teens fully engaged throughout the training.

Our professional and experienced staff provide a safe and nurturing environment for the youth while being fully committed to the well being of every teen.

Jani McGuire

Founder/CEO - Lead Facilitator

Jani McGuire - mother, author, actress, facilitator, life coach and entrepreneur, created Awakening Young Minds in 2007. Frustrated and saddened by the endless stories of bullying, suicide, gang violence, and drug abuse, not only on the news but in her own community, Jani decided to take her 20 years of experience coaching, and facilitating leadership workshops for adults and translate that into workshops for teens, especially those at risk. To date Jani has reached over a thousand children with AYM’s mission to impart emotional education and offer individualized coaching in an ongoing support role for youth to reach their highest potential.

After 23 years as a successful and award-winning commercial actress, Jani segued her on-camera talent to behind the scenes where her passion for human potential and transformational work became her focus. In 1990 Jani’s personal journey of self discovery inspired her to support others, and by 1992 Jani was coaching groups of 30 or more people through 3-4 month long leadership programs. Jani’s natural ability to learn and create from an intuitive place cemented her new path as a Personal Life Coach, and in 2000 she coined the title MTT (Master Truth Teller). She is a dynamic speaker, facilitator, coach and leader, and her intuitiveness and passion are evident in her ability to bring out the best in those she works with. Jani understands the needs, struggles, and often misunderstood behaviors of our youth, and is committed to her goal of Awakening Young Minds around the Nation.

Jani's work with youth has included various organizations, some of which are: The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Ventura County Probation Dept., and the Los Angeles Unified School District. As a Master Facilitator she trains others to lead workshops. She also served 3 years as the Director of the teen group at The Center for Spiritual Living, in Westlake Village, CA.

Dave McGuire

Vice President - COO

Dave McGuire is a strong, passionate, and loving leader. His undemanding presence and calm approach is the perfect antidote for the type of teens AYM works with. Dave is the heart of each workshop making sure that all the technical aspects get handled and everything runs smoothly.

Dave began his personal journey of self improvement over 20 years ago. During this work he discovered his passion for Analytical Psychology. He soon began facilitating Behavioral Matrix seminars and Relationship workshops centered around AP. Over the years Dave has also lead many adult leadership programs with profound results.

Together with Jani, Dave lead the teen group at The Center for Spiritual Living, in Westlake Village, CA. As the COO - Chief Operating Officer for AYM, Dave is devoted to making a difference for our youth. He understands the great need for Emotional Education workshops, and is committed to Awakening Young Minds in every community.
